REELS

Fixed Spool Reels

These are the most common reels used in the UK and come in a wide range of sizes depending on the type of fishing you intend to do. It is best to get areel with an adjustable drag and a gear ratio between 4:1 and 4.6:1. For spinning many anglers prefer a gear ratio of 3:1 so they can retreive the lure at a slow steady rate

Baitrunners

These have become the standard reel of the Carp angler with their ability to allow the line to be taken at a controlled rate so there is less risk of line breaking or tangles. And are used with a bite alarm and monkey climber.

Centre Pin Reels

The centrepin is one of the simplest of reels yet is one of the hardest to master. The line runs freely from the drum and is controlled by the thumb although rarely used these days the way the line is controlled make these ideal reels to use when fishing in fast moving water.
